Biography: William “Bill” George Heckenhauer, 85, passed away at his home in Ft Pierce, Florida on Wednesday February 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on August 14, 1929 to the late George and Vera (Mader) Heckenhauer. He attended Bucyrus City Schools and graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1947. Bill attended Capital University and Ohio State University.He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953 and was a combat veteran during the Korean War. Bill was a life long member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, The Elks and American Legion Post 181. He had a long successful career in engineering and held three patents.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, their 3 daughters, Georg-Anne (Marshall) Cunningham, Marion; Nancy Rogers, Huron; Jennifer (John) Adams Nevada; 4 grandchildren, Kristin (Brad Shank) Mutchler, Columbus; Rebekah (Peter) Stefaniuk, Ashland; Rachel Young Cleveland; and Sasha (Alec) Cunningham, Marion; 8 great grandchildren, Sister, Susan (Don) Widman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded brother John and sister in law Janice Heckenhauer and a son in law, Tim Rogers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday February 21st from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Bucyrus with a Memorial Service to be held at 11:00 am. with Rev. David Bliss officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made Good Hope Lutheran Church Steeple Fund, the Crawford County Humane Society or the Treasure Coast Hospice of Ft Pierce.
