Biography: Wayne Edwin Scheffler, age 83, went to be with the Lord May 14, 2017. Wayne was born to the late Frank and Bertha (Leonberger) Scheffler February 2, 1934 in Bucyrus OH at his country homestead. Wayne is preceded in death by parents, Betty (Butt) Scheffler his first wife; sons, Gary and Mike Scheffler; and brother, Milton Scheffler.
Wayne is survived by loving wife, Carol (Kent-Shealy) Scheffler; sons, Randy (Laurie) Scheffler and Dale (Jo Anna) Scheffler; step sons, Mark (Debbie) Shealy, Taddeus (Kelly) Shealy, Lance (Nikki) Shealy, Troy (Brooke) Shealy; sisters, Ruth (Wilmer) Loy and Helen Ross; sister-in-law Julia Scheffler; daughter-in-law, Cathy Scheffler; grandchildren, David Pinion, Adrienne (Brock) Kemery, Matthew (Brook) Scheffler, Amanda Scheffler, Shannon (Travis) Watson, Casey (Logan) Stine, Clarissa Scheffler, Josh Scheffler, and Jessica (Ryan) Tomlin as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and one great great-granddaughter.
Wayne has been a resident of the Crawford County area his whole life. He graduated from Holmes Liberty High School in the class of '52 as president of the class and was involved with track and basketball there. He is a lifetime member of Good Hope Lutheran Church.
Wayne was quite proud of his landscaping and farming. He worked at a farm most his life and with Upper Sandusky's Wyandot Tractor. He took much pride in his work and was involved in so many different organizations such as: Associate member of C.C. Pork Producers, Associate member C.C. Cattlemen Association, Moose Lodge 669, Farm Bureau. Enjoyed having lunch every Wednesday with his sisters.
Some of his past experiences expand to past president of Bucyrus Area Club, served 6 years as Supervisor on Crawford Soil and Water Conservation Board, served 18 years as C.C. Fair Board Director past president and vice president, member of both Bucyrus and Crestline area Democratic Clubs, member of Democratic Central and Executive Committees, Holmes Township Volunteer firefighter from 1959-1989, 20 year member of the Crawford County Township Association past president and vice president, past Rotary Member, elected in 1991 to sixth term as Trustee of Holmes Township Chairman of Board of Trustees for 13 years, owned and operated trailer sales out of a self-started business Garamida Farms, and lastly Wayne served as Crawford County Commissioner for 1 term.
The family will be receiving friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Good Hope Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be Friday May, 19th at 11 AM in the Good Hope Lutheran Sanctuary. Pastor Renee Ahern will be officiating services. Burial will follow services at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Good Hope Steeple or Organ fund.
