Biography: Wanda P. Kurtz, 92 of Bucyrus passed away on Friday December 11, 2015 at Carlisle Place. Wanda was born August 22, 1923 in New Washington to the late Jesse and Bertha (Geissman) Harrer. She was married June 2, 1946 to Calvin C. Kurtz who preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2015. She was also preceded in death by sisters Lulu Hieber and Lois Lutz as well as brothers Herbert and Earl Harrer.
Wanda is survived by daughters Elaine Ann Germann of Sunbury and Susan Kay (Keith) Wise of Chillicothe; grandchildren Erin Germann of Cuyohoga Falls, Kelly (Jim) Armstrong of Bowie Maryland, Melissa (Jason) Ingram of Middletown, OH, and Steven (Cassie) Wise of Athens, OH; great grandchildren Jacob and Abigail Armstrong, Bennett Ingram; and brother Robert Harrer of New Washington.
Wanda lived her entire life in this area and graduated from New Washington High School in 1941. She helped her husband with farming and taking care of the animals. Wanda was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Ladies Circle, taught Sunday School, and sang in the Choir. Wanda was active in the Chatfield Homemaker’s Club and with her husband helped transport friends to church when they were without a ride. Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who supported her children in whatever they were involved in. She always put others first before herself.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday December 21, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Nazareth Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Pairan and Gene Luidhardt S.A.M. officiating, burial will be in Nazareth Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-7 pm.
