Biography: Truman Sandlin, age 77, passed away peacefully at home Monday July 6, 2015. He was born to the late Johnnie and Lillian (O’Neal) Sandlin on September 12, 1937 in Portland TN, he was a descendent of a Scottish King. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eskil, Glen, and Sherman; nieces, Joann and Michelle; nephew, Jeff Sandlin.
Truman is survived by daughter, Robin (Curtis) Sandlin Michael of Bucyrus; son, Truman (Tanya) Sandlin Jr. of Bucyrus; half son, James Michael Sandlin of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren Leighton James Sill, Amanda Marie Sill, Maggie Mae Michael, Tasha Sue Michael, Rachel Deann Sandlin, Heidi Lynn Sandlin, Katrina Fawn Sandlin, Tera Marie Sandlin; 25 great grandchildren; brothers, Joe (Suzanne) Sandlin and Wendell (Brenda) Sandlin, and several nieces and nephews.
Truman was a veteran of the Army National Guard, lifetime member of Amvets Post 27, VFW Post 1078, and founding member of Bucyrus Chapter of the Alliance of Guardian Angels. He had worked at Galion Iron Works of Bucyrus and in 1968 moved to Kalamazoo Michigan working at Humphrey Products for 30 years. Truman also loved fishing, playing cards, and woodcrafting.
Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Saturday July 11th in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 3 PM until time of service. Family suggests memorials be made to the Bucyrus Chapter of Guardian Angels. Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
