Thomas C. Staats

Biography:  Thomas C. Staats, 71, of Bucyrus passed away on Tuesday Aug. 26, 2014 at Heartland of Bucyrus following a brief illness.  Tom was born Jan. 15, 1943 in Ripley, W. Virg. to the late Orville Staats and Myrta (McGrew) Rainer of Stockport, OH.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by step father Alvin Rainer; son Roy Staats; and brother Claude Rainer.


Tom is survived by wife Sandra (Riley) Staats who he married May 21, 1966; son Paul Staats of Marietta, OH; grandchildren Derek (Tiffany) Riels, Aimee (Richard) Baker, and David Staats; great grandchildren Ashlie Baker and Duane Riels; siblings Charles (Pam) Staats, Galion; Roger (Pam) Rainer, Caldwell, OH; Ronald (Linda) Rainer, Beverly, OH; Randy Rainer, Dexter City, OH; Judy (Rick) Baker, Sharon, OH; Karen (Kenneth) Campbell, Reinersville, OH; and Marie (Greg) Marquis of Dale, OH.
Tom was a welder and last worked at Komatsu Dresser.
The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm where services will be held at 8:00 pm.  Memorials may be made through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
