Stephen H. Kagy, aged 97, longtime resident of Tiro passed away on Wednesday August 21, 2024 at Altercare of Bucyrus. Stephen was born March 20, 1927 in St. Stephens, OH, near Bloomville to the late Clyde and Clady (Weaver) Kagy. He was married October 10, 1947 to Maxine (Rossman) Kagy who preceded him in death on August 14, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his oldest daughter Karen Kagy; brothers Berlin, Kenneth, Gilbert, Forest, Donald, Joseph, and Carlton; sisters Joyce Brandenburg, Mildred Ellis, and Lois Reichert, brother-in-law Lyle Rossman, and sister-in-law Corine Ransom Harrer.
Stephen is survived by children Dennis (Sue) Kagy of Lexington, OH, David Kagy, D.D.S. of Bloomville, Pat (Randy) Storms of Shelby, and Jill (Dr Leland) Weigel of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Brendan (Elizabeth) Hufford, Stephen (Amy) Weigel, and Michael Weigel; great grandchildren Evan, Finnley, Rohan, and Miles; brother Merle (Rosanna) Kagy of Tiffin; sisters Eunice (George) Nagel of Willard, Marlene Gurney of Findlay and sister-in-law Shirley Gernert; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Stephen graduated from Bloomville High School in 1945 and was a WWII Army Veteran serving as a Pharmacy Tech. He farmed and retired from PPG in Crestline in 1990 after 31 years. Stephen was active with Boys Scout and was a Little League coach. He loved gardening, and nature, but most of all he loved being with his family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at 10:30 am at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. The Luncheon will be held at Pickwick Place at 11:30. Burial at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Bloomville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday September 9, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm and at 9:30 before the service.
The family suggests memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association and Arbor Day Association. Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
