Biography: Silas N. Beal, 78, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH. Silas was born June 28, 1938, in Chatfield, OH to the late John Wesley and Rosena (Kalb) Beal. He was married Sept. 7, 1961, to Sharon D. (Sigars) Beal. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers James, John, and twin Paul.
Silas is also survived by wife Sharon and sons Michael W., Sean L (Julie), Nathan L., Daniel C. (Heather), Dianna Yip (daughter of the heart), Jonathan Southwick (son of the heart), six grandchildren, sister Joanna Yaussy, sister-in-law Edna Beal, and many dear nieces and nephews. He loved them all very much, and prayed for them regularly.
Silas was a schoolteacher and Pastor. He graduated from Chatfield H.S., Ashland College, and the Ashland Seminary with a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree. He was ordained by the Christian Missionary Alliance. Silas had a heart for missions, spending time in Korea and New Zealand teaching English as a second language and the Bible.
Silas served as Pastor of the Pietist Evangelical Church, where his grandfather and cousin also preached. He also served as Pastor of Hope Church in Sulphur Springs, OH. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany from 1961-1963.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday March 13, 2017, at the Pietist Church at 11:00 am with Pastors Walt Keib and Rick Negley officiating. Burial will follow in Lust Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 12 in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home from 2-4PM and 6-8PM.
The family suggests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the Missionary fund of the Pietist Church, Chatfield, OH, or the Missionary fund of Berlin Presbyterian Church, Lewis Center, OH.
