Biography: Ruth Kocher, 93, of 1785 Lemert Road, Bucyrus, died Monday night April 6, 2015 at Bucyrus Community Hospital. Daughter of Jacob and Pearl (Abendroth) Wagner, Ruth Marie Wagner was born on July 9, 1921 a few miles east of Bucyrus. On August 30, 1942 she married Harold Reuben Kocher. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her older sister Naomi Wagner Holland.
Ruth is survived by her three children and their spouses: Jim and wife Sally Kocher of Chapel Hill, NC; Tom and wife Jan Kocher of rural Bucyrus; and Carolyn and her husband John Myers of Upper Sandusky. She is survived by six grandchildren: Cindy Kocher (Robert Perry) of Urbana, IL; Keith (Sara) Kocher of Ann Arbor, MI; Craig (Abby) Kocher of Richmond, VA; Tim (Amy) Kocher of Pittsboro, NC; Matthew Myers of Tokyo, Japan; and Emily Myers of Toledo, OH. She is survived by five great-grandchildren: Jack and Austin Perry of Urbana, IL; Cyrus and Camden Kocher of Ann Arbor, MI; and Caroline Kocher of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by her sister Florence Wagner Durigg, her brother Arthur Wagner and wife Joyce, her brother-in-law Wayne Kocher and wife Mary, and her sister-in-law Martha Smith, and by 25nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a 1939 graduate of North Robinson School. She was raised in Grace EUB church, joined Epworth Methodist Church following her marriage, and in recent years was a member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir for over 60 years and was active in United Methodist Women, Bible studies, and many other church groups. She was a member of the Holmes-Liberty Mothers’ Club for over 50 years.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service at the Church. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.in the Bucyrus Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Kraps and Ruth’s grandson Rev. Craig Kocher officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, rural Bucyrus.
