Biography: Ruth E. Shealy, 102 years of age, passed away on Tuesday Nov. 19, 2013 at The Inn at Orchard Park. Ruth was born June 16, 1911 in Vernon Twp., Richland Co. OH to the late James W. and Lulu M. (Beach) Pfahler. She was married April 22, 1933 to Richard M. Shealy who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1995. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Sylvia Seif and brother Kenneth Pfahler.
Ruth is survived by daughters Vivian (Robert) Wistner of Dublin, OH and Dorothy (C. Mitchell) Smith of Lakeland, FL; son in law Frederic Seif of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Laura (Dan) McAdams, Cincinnati; Karen Beck, Bucyrus; Stephen (Carla) Seif, Bucyrus; Veronica (Doug) Vandayburg, Bucyrus; Rebecca (Joe) Haverstick of Solon, OH; Brian (Michiko) Wistner of Tokyo, Japan; Daniel Smith of Lakeland, FL; and Theodore Smith of Palm Bay, FL; 18 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
Ruth helped her husband Richard with farming as well as work on the Cr. Co. Fair Board for over 40 years. She graduated from Sulphur Springs H.S. in 1929 and graduated from Marion Business College. Following her graduation, Ruth did secretarial work for Weatherproof Raincoat Co. for $7.50 per week. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ridgeton Rd. and the Women of the Church. She enjoyed cooking, farming, gardening and her pet cats.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Hans Scherner and Rev. Jack Kocsis officiating, burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7 pm and memorials may be given to the Church Memorial Fund.
