Rose L. Smith

Biography:  Rose L. Smith, 81, of Tiro passed away at 8:00 am Tuesday Jan. 14, 2014 at home.  Rose was born Feb. 18, 1932 in Sandusky, OH to the late William and Beatrice (Hegemer) Brecht.  She was married Jan. 26, 1952 to Roger E. Smith who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2010.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother William.
Rose is survived by children Mark E. Smith of Tiro; Mike (Connie) Smith of Tiro; Vicki (Tom) Taylor of Marietta, GA; and Linda (Greg) Stegeman of Medina; grandchildren Cindy (Christian) Barth, Nevada; Lester (Sara) Smith Roswell, GA; Jennifer (Scott) Kelly, Sidney, OH; Lauren (Tom) Sinowski, Marietta, GA; Brad (Jessica) Stegeman, Uniontown; Samantha Stegeman, Harrison, OH; and Ashley Stegeman of Canton; great grandchildren Vera, Clara, Anne Clare, Ella, Emma, and Olivia; brother Dennis Brecht, North Fairfield; sister Lois Bailey, Sandusky; as well as her special pet dog Gracie.
Rose was a homemaker and helped her husband with farming.  She was a member of Mother of Sorrow Catholic Church in N. Auburn, the Rosary Alter Society, and was formerly a member of the Tiro Homemakers Club.  Rose enjoyed gardening, canning, and being involved with her children’s activity’s when they were young.  Rose was quick witted and loved livestock, especially those that were sick and small.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am in Mother of Sorrow Catholic Church with Father Eric Culler as Celebrant, burial will follow in Sandusky Twp. Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 pm.  The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Home Care Matters Hospice, the Sandusky Twp.
