Roger Smith

Biography:  Roger Smith, 83 of Bucyrus passed away peacefully on Friday Sept. 20, 2013 at Orchard Park.  Roger was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Richlands, VA to the late Paul and Trula Smith.  He was married Dec. 22, 1949 to Frances E. (Pinion) Smith who preceded him in death on March 1, 2005.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
 
Roger is survived by sons Hobert “Lee” Smith, Bucyrus and Hubert (Sharon) Smith of Bucyrus; two grandchildren Christy and Jamie Smith; great grandchildren Danielle, Devin, and Dustin; 1 great great grandchild Tanner; and brother  Audrey (Lucy) Smith of Bucyrus.
 
Roger worked as a Coal Minor in Virginia prior to moving to Bucyrus in 1953.  He retired from Swan Rubber in 1988 after 38 years.  Roger was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a Life Member of the Amvets Post 27 and VFW Post 1099.  He enjoyed fishing and watching different sporting events on T.V.
 
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 pm. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #181. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
