Biography: Robert Marian Crall, died at home on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife and family. “Bob” was 66 years of age. He was born Easter morning April 6, 1947, in Galion, Ohio, to the late Marian Henry and Annabel Elizabeth (Virtue) Crall. Bob and the former Phyllis Jean Blackford were united in marriage June 8, 1968 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sulphur Springs, Ohio, with the Rev. Oliver Beach, Jr. officiating. Phyllis survives her husband.
Also surviving: a daughter Kimberly Jo (Lee) North, and grandchildren Karlee North and Owen North, of Dublin, Ohio; a son Jonathan Robert (Danielle) Crall, and grandchildren Eli Crall, Ty Crall, Ben Crall, and Abe Crall of Mt. Orab, Ohio; three sisters, Margaret “Margee” Amstutz, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Mary Lou Neumann, of Bucyrus, Ohio; and twin sister Elizabeth “Betty” (Mark) Rafferty, of Birmingham, Alabama; sister-in-law Anne (Jack) Fisher, Chatfield, Ohio; and sister-in-law Linda (Garrett) Swendal, of Howard, Ohio; and dear family friend, Kimberly Blair, of Columbus, Ohio. Nephews and nieces surviving include: Gail (Peggy) Amstutz, Norman (Deborah) Amstutz, Marion (Janice) Amstutz, Kevin Amstutz, Heather (Mark) Thomas, Ellen (Roger) Bloomfield, Rick (Janine) Neumann, Sonya (James) Gibson, Ryan (Christina) Rafferty, Sarah Rafferty, Neil Rafferty, Deborah Grove, Jerry Kalb, Allen (Laura) Fisher. Eight great nieces and fifteen great nephews also survive.
In addition to Bob’s parents, brother-in-law Roger K. Amstutz, niece Rebecca J Amstutz and niece Cynthia K Amstutz, preceded him in death.
Bob was a 1965 graduate of Buckeye Central High School, and a 1970 graduate of Tiffin University, where he earned an accounting degree. Pursuing a career in the manufacturing industry, Bob retired in 2004 after 33 years. Bob enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially attending their activities. Genealogical research, gardening, landscaping, home maintenance, watching and feeding his backyard critters, were favorite pastimes. He was recently accepted into the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution.
Bob cherished the time he was able to spend with his mother Annabel, and mother-in-law Kate Blackford, during their care giving years. Their lifelong maternal teaching instincts were always present and priorities in their lives.
Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 1675 Hopley Ave, Bucyrus, Ohio, at 1:00 p.m., on September 16, 2013, with Pastor Jim Ellis officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. prior to the services where the family will receive them. Following services, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus, Ohio.
Pallbearers will be son Jonathan Crall, grandsons Eli Crall and Ty Crall, son-in-law Lee North, brother-in-law Garrett Swendal, and family friend William Bateson.
Memorials may be made to Woodlawn United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, The American Cancer Society, or to the charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
