Biography: Robert “Gene” Vaughn, 85, of Bucyrus passed away on Sunday evening, December 1, 2014 in Med Central Hospital of Mansfield unexpectedly from an extended heart condition. He was born July 29, 1929 in Salt Rock Twp. Marion County, Ohio to the late Richard and Flora (Holbrook) Vaughn. On June 29th, 1957 he married Ruth (Schwemly) who survives.
He is also survived by his children, Lorie (Juvi) Fernandes, Richard Vaughn, all of Bucyrus, and his former daughter in law, Linda (Kehres) Vaughn of Bloomville; his grandchildren, Ashley and Jesse Vaughn, Stephen (Heidi) Martin, Lynquoia Dyer, and Derek Vaughn; his great grandchild, Zoey; his sisters in law, Pauline Vaughn of Upper Sandusky and Jenny Vaughn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Vaughn as well as 10 siblings.
He lived most of his life in Crawford and Marion Counties graduating from Whetstone High School. He served in the Ohio National Guard for 13 years, worked at the Timken Company for 18 years, owned and operated Ruthe’ Ceramics, owned and operated Dairy Quest for 16 years, was a member of the Moose, AMVETS, and Eagles, enjoyed playing cards with friends, Ohio State sports, and Fishing.
