Robert L. “Buck” Pfahler, 82 of Bucyrus passed away on Thursday August 31, 2023 at Mansfield Hospital. Buck was born January 19, 1941 in Bucyrus to the late William and Hazel (Oberlander) Pfahler. He was married December 20, 2002 to Luanne LaRue Pfahler who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Judy Kellogg and brothers William Jr., Carl, and Ronald Pfahler.
Buck is also survived by children Troy Pfahler of Arcadia, FL and Brandi (Tobie) Bryant of Martel, OH, and their mother Anne Pfahler of Arcadia FL; grandchildren Taylor (Nathaniel) Jackson of Westerville and Emily (Frank) Boner of Johnsville, OH; great grandchildren Frank Jr., Waylon, Silas, with one expected named Cooper; special friend Zane Plumley; sister-in-laws Bev Pfahler and Lisa VerBurg and her husband Perry; mother-in-law Evelyn LaRue; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Buck graduated from Holmes Liberty High School in 1961 and was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed in Korea. He served in the Eighth U.S. Army AR Team and participated in Rifle Team Competitions. He retired 20 years ago from Bu-Comp in Lykens as Plant Manager. Buck was a life member of the AMVETS Post 27 and the VFW Post 1078 as well as a member of the American Legion Post 181 and the Bucyrus Masonic Lodge. Buck enjoyed golfing, fishing, visiting friends at the AMVETS, spending time with family, and being a Michigan Wolverine Fan.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday September 6 at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Darling officiating and burial to follow in Brokensword Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the AMVETS Post 27 and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
