Biography: Philip O. Powell, 67 of Bucyrus passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack on Saturday Nov. 8, 2014 while at the Lake. Philip was born Dec. 26, 1946 in Bucyrus to the late Oliver A. and Bertha (Walter) Powell. He was married Oct. 27, 1973 to Marjorie (Studer) Powell who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Michael, Jeffrey, and Sam Powell, as well as father in law Urban Studer and brothers and sisters in law; David and Susie Kalb, Dianne Studer and Clem Karl.
Philip is also survived by children; Andrea Wilson, Bucyrus; Bryant Powell of California; Shana (Martin) Sevigny, ILL; Krista Powell, Bucyrus; Erica Powell, Akron; and Brandon Powell of Bucyrus; grandchildren James Allred, serving in the military; Jessica Allred, Noah Sevigny, Alexis Powell, and Wyatt Powell Lawson; sisters Mary (Jack) Mikusa, ILL and Vera (Arden) Leonhardt, Bucyrus; sister in laws Kathy, JoAnn, and Pat Powell; mother in law Ladora Studer; brother in laws Urban (Gale) Studer, James Studer, Mark (Amy) Studer; sister in laws Jean (Ed) Rowe, Doris Ann (Roy) King, Julia (Louis) Sanders, Brenda (Russ) Kehres, Therese Karl, Patty (David) Franken, and Shirley (Greg) Rotruck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Phil lived his entire life in the community and graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1966. He retired 13 yrs. ago from The Timken Company after 32 years and three months. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a Vietnam Army Veteran serving in the 101st Airborne. Phil was a friend to everyone and enjoyed fishing at Lake Erie, gardening, building projects of all kinds, and being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father John Miller as Celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. The family suggests memorials be made to Holy Trinity Church, the Diabetes Foundation, or Gifts for Yanks. Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
