Biography: Penny S. Snyder, 51, of New Washington passed away on Friday July 17, 2015 at home, her death was unexpected. Penny was born May 4, 1964 in Bucyrus to Delbert and Marilyn (McCracken) Koons who survive in Brokensword. She is also survived by daughter Meghan Snyder of Mansfield; brothers Chuck (Betty) Koons Jr. of Bucyrus and Douglas Koons of Sycamore; sister Nancy (Sidney) Maples of Sycamore; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Penny was a graduate of Wynford High School in 1982. She graduated from Mansfield School of Nursing and Ashland College for a Bachelors degree in the Nursing field. Her Masters Degree was received from Otterbein College. Penny worked as a traveling nurse in the TRAVCORP and finally settled down as an Ashland University Professor of Nursing.
Penny was a very active member in the nursing community; she is a former president of Ohio Organization of Practical Nursing Educators. Penny was a current member of the Moose Lodge in Bucyrus and was in the Ladies of the Moose serving as Junior Region to her lodge. Penny also had a special place in her heart for her Ohio State Buckeyes Football team and her dog Tucker was always by her side. Penny was a member of Scioto United Methodist Church.
The family will be receiving friends from 4 until 8 pm Wednesday, July 22, at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. There will be a service provided by the Ladies of the Moose at 7:45 pm Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 am in the funeral home with Rev. Glory Geib officiating, burial will follow at Brokensword Cemetery.
