Biography: Olive Hobbs, 80, of Bucyrus passed away on Friday May 23, 2014 at Mansfield Med Central, she had been seriously ill for the past 2 weeks. Olive was born May 15, 1934 in Vanceburg, KY to the late William and Eva (Dyer) Carpenter. She was married August 9, 1952 to James M. Hobbs who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1980. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by half brothers Bill, Bob, Que, and Nelson: half sisters Vergie and Josie; and son in law Paul Green.
Olive is survived by daughters Cathy of Marion; Jeannie (Rick) Roberts, Bucyrus; grandchildren Nakisha (James) Meade, Bucyrus and Nicholas Roberts, Columbus; two great grandchildren Alory and Grayson Meade; brothers Zoney and Charlie Carpenter; and sisters Myrtle Hobbs, Violet Dulan, Irene Cooley, and Elizabeth McGlone.
Olive worked 31 years at ITT North in Galion, 5 yrs. at Hebco, and for the past 10 years as a home health aide. Her family was her life and she spent many hours caring for her great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Bishop Ted Thomas officiating, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. The family suggests memorials be made to the Am. Lung Assoc. and expressions of sympathy can be made at munzpirnstill.com
