Biography: Norman Ray Thompson, 45, finished his earthly journey on Monday June 1, 2015 surrounded by friends and family, Michelle, Aunt Ruthie, and Nancy while on a trip out of town. Norman had been in failing health for the past 17 months, yet his death was unexpected. Norman was born September 7, 1969 in Marion to the late John L. Thompson and Luvadia “Polly” (Mullins) Thompson who survives in Marion. He was also preceded in death by sister Teresa Ellen Thompson.
Norman is survived by his former wife Michelle Thompson who has continued to have a relationship in his life, as well as aunts and uncles; Nancy and Tom Sheaffer, Wyandot; Ruthie Zornes, Nevada; Mae and Lowell Breyley, Bucyrus; Gladys and Roger Knell of Sycamore; and James Daniel Mullins of Tollesboro, KY; also surviving are many cousins and friends.
Norman last worked for 16 years at Whirlpool in Marion. Prior to Whirlpool he worked at Drypers in management for several years, Carter Lumber, and owned Superior Construction Company. He graduated from Marion Harding H.S. and Tri-Rivers Joint Vocational School and lived in Marion most of his life. Norman attended the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church and was an avid O.S.U. Fan. He was a very versatile person who enjoyed and could do a little of everything. He especially enjoyed Frisbee golf as well as fishing and boating.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut St., Bucyrus with burial to follow in Whetstone Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of services.
