Biography: Norman D. Van Buskirk of Upper Sandusky passed away at 4:17 pm Tuesday Feb. 26 in the Fairhaven Community. Norm was born Oct. 17, 1925 in Wharton, OH to the late David R. and Mary (Bausman) Van Buskirk. He was married March 20, 1973 to Naomi R. (Grasley) Van Buskirk who survives.
Norman is also survived by sons Carl of N. Robinson; Pastor Kenneth and wife Teresa of Nebo, NC; daughter Kimberly of Bucyrus; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister N. Eileen Harris of Arlington, OH; son in law Ronald Hurst of Bucyrus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters Carolyn Van Buskirk and Cheryl Hurst; son John R. Cress, grandson Randy Hurst; brothers Herman, Glen, Harry, and Mellville; and sisters Daisy Gallant and Mini Gallant.
Norman owned and operated Norm’s Home Maintenance for 5 years and worked at Chatfield Hardware for over 20 years. He built homes, managed and maintained apartments and had worked for the City of Bucyrus. Norman attended Wharton and Marseilles Schools and was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre as a Signalman. He attended the Bucyrus Bible Church and had attended the Church of God in Mansfield. Norman served Chatfield as a Volunteer Fireman and Marshall.
Funeral Services will be held at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Saturday at Noon with Pastor Kenneth Van Buskirk, Pastor Mike Rogers, and Pastor Graydon Cox officiating, burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and memorials may be given to Hospice of Wyandot County.
