Milford Gene Turney

Biography:  Milford Gene Turney, 85 of Chatfield passed away on Thursday Nov. 13, 2014 at Bucyrus Community Hospital. Gene was born Jan. 26, 1929 in Crawford Co. to the late Sheldon and Mabel (Peters) Turney.  He was married Oct. 7, 1956 to Virginia (Geiger) Turney who survives.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Marlene Stump and brother Gary Turney.
 
Gene is also survived by daughters Kathy (Mark) Ulicki of Vermillion and Christy (Robert) Watkins of N. Olmstead.
 
Gene lived his entire life in this area and was a 1947 graduate of Holmes Liberty H.S.  He served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1994 from General Electric after 30 years.  He was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church. Gene owned Whirlwind Kennels and showed the Siamoyed Breed.  Later Whirlwind Kennels became Whirlwind Gardens where he specialized in Hostas and Daylilies.  Gene loved his gardens and dogs as well as his favorite pet dog “Timmy”.
 
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 3:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. David Layton officiating, burial will follow in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service.  The family suggests memorials be made to the Bucyrus Bible Church and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
