Biography: Mattie Jean Chambers, 78 of Bucyrus went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday July 8, 2016 at Grant Hospital in Columbus. Her death was the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on June 27th. Mattie was born June 1, 1938 in Lewis Co., KY to the late Samuel Thurman Morgan and Alberta (Barker) Morgan. She was married May 12, 1979 to Ralph Chambers who survives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son Edward Eugene Bays and daughter Joann Bays; brothers Dale, Morris, Clyde, Doug, and Simon Morgan; and sisters Opal Luther and Mary Morgan.
Mattie Jean is also survived by children Diana Bays (Tim) Howell, Bucyrus; Carolyn Morgan, VA; Marilyn (Bob) Hartshorne, NC; and step daughter Julie (Chris) Thompson of LeGrange, OH; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters Minnie Heart, TN and Margie Hall, Greenup, KY; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mattie Jean was a homemaker and attended Full Gospel Lighthouse. She loved gardening, reading, and her dog “Lightning” but most of all she enjoyed being with her family.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Lemaster and Bill Caldwell officiating, burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
