Mary “Took” Margaret Rarick, 85, passed away surrounded by family at Vancrest of Upper Sandusky November 3, 2023. Mary was born to the late Hiram and Mary (Leonard) Poland June 17, 1938 in Galion Ohio. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Rarick in 2002; brothers, Willard, Mart, and Herbert; sisters, Betty, Shirley, Barbara, and Sandy.
Mary is survived by children, Robin (Scott) Franks and Robert “Bob” (Ellen) Leonberger; brothers, John (Virginia) Poland and Dale (Joyce) Poland; sisters, Kaye Scott and Karen Knapp; grandchildren, Brett (Katie) Leonberger, Garrett (Ashley) Leonberger, Whitny (Jared) Green, Joshua (Sara) Franks and 10 great-grandchildren.
Took was a graduate of North Robinson class of 56’. She had worked at a number of places such as Swan Rubber and Busy Bee Drive In, Graham Chevrolet of Mansfield, and had Bartended at the Elks. Her much longer work stints were with the Crawford County Kidney Center for 8-10 years and at GE for 20+ years where she had become a union president and supervisor. She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran of Bucyrus and the Altrusa Club. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, and was known as “Took the Cook”, she always supplied the cream cheese mints for graduations and weddings, and had some of the best secret recipes.
Visiting hours are at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home from 12PM-2PM Monday November 13. There will be a memorial service following the visitation at 2PM. Burial to follow at Crawford County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or Crawford County Humane Society.
