Biography: Mary Ruth Honaker of Bucyrus passed away at 11:10 am Tuesday Feb. 18, 2014 in Altercare of Bucyrus, she had been in declining health. Mary was born in Russell Co. Virginia July 25, 1930 to the late Edith Neldine Thompson and Clarence L. Wilson. She was raised in a large and loving family of six sisters; Pat, Dot, Martha, Betty, Sue, and Alice as well as four brothers, Clarence, BF, Charlie, and Walt. She is survived by sisters Martha Fortner of Bucyrus and Alice White of Montana.
Mary was married Dec. 13, 1946 in Pikeville, KY to Willard J. Honaker and they were married 56 years before Willard passed on Dec. 18, 2002. Mary and Willard had four children; Jesse (Peg) Honaker, Steve (Don Gregg) Honaker, Kathi (Tom) Laughbaum, and Michelle (Michael) Hathorus. Jesse and Steve both preceded her in death in 2012. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Josie Feeley, Sam (Jenna) Brown, Bo (Cassie) Honaker, Zane Barrett, Candee (Mike Olshavsky) Brown, and Greyson Hathorus; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Throughout her life Mary worked at Swan, GE, and Tecumseh. After retiring from manufacturing, she found her true calling in working as a health care aide at Belle Michael Home and in Home Healthcare. She was a caring and compassionate person.
In her spare time, Mary liked doing crafts, playing cards with her family and baking. Everyone loved her baked goods especially her famous “gobs”. She had a strong and playful personality that lasted her until the end of her life. Mary was a loving Mother and Grandmother and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm. Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
