Biography: Mary Joan Kitchin, 87, of Bucyrus passed away on Friday Oct. 10, 2014 at Carlisle Place in Bucyrus. Joan was born Oct. 22, 1926 in New Washington, OH to the late Fred and Helen (Rauth) Heydinger. She was married June 9, 1952 to Keith E. Kitchin who preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1992. She was also preceded in death by one sister Louette Crowley.
Joan is survived by children Sheila Kitchin, Bucyrus; Marla Corvitti, Silverdale, WA; Paula (Tim) Marcagi, Cincinnati, OH; Kevin (Cheryl) Kitchin, Bucyrus; and Kyle (Crista) Kitchin, Crestline; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and one brother Fred “Fritz” Heydinger of Dayton.
Joan graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1944 and received her B.A. degree at Mary Manse College. Joan continued her post graduate work at Bowling Green State Univ. receiving her Masters Degree. She taught in Ohio, Colorado, Florida, N. Carolina, Hawaii, and Arizona. Joan taught the Fourth Grade Class at Holy Trinity in Bucyrus from 1970 until 1992 and served as Principle at Holy Trinity from 1979 until retiring in 1992.
Joan was a Member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was active in the church news letter. She also participated in the Red Hat Society and Contact Crawford County.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday at 2:00 pm in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father John L. Miller as Celebrant, burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1:00 pm until the time of Mass.
