Marjorie Ann Shealy, of rural Crawford County, passed away in Bucyrus, Ohio on June 7, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born to Frederick and Nellie Matchuret, in Michigan. She attended Tawas High School in Tawas Michigan. Marge grew up on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron. Many a happy hour was spent with her father when he returned from hunting and trapping. She enjoyed ice-skating and many other winter sports. In the summer, she splashed in the pristine waters of the lake and enjoyed her mother’s superb cooking. Winters were a favorite, and each time we see a beautiful snowflake, we will know that she is here with us in spirit.
Marge was a stunning beauty with blonde hair and blue eyes. She caught the attention of Kenneth Shealy and they were united in marriage. They launched forth on many adventures both great and small, always enjoying the people and places that Ken’s Air Force career had to offer. She felt that her greatest achievements were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her kind spirit and passion for life will live on through all of them.
Marjorie was a gifted artist who excelled in oil painting, often doing commission work. She also worked in textiles, creating many one-of-a-kind dolls and animals. Marge’s lifelong love was the study of antiques. In this area she exhibited great knowledge of beautiful things from the past. She surrounded her life with the history of our great nation. Margorie, with her artistic flair, always decorated her home to celebrate the passing of each season.
Marjorie loved spending time with family and friends. She was a spirited storyteller and thrived on the exchange of interesting conversation. Of great interest to her was the study of politics and current events. She shared many lively conversations with her husband and friends at Port Bucyrus-Crawford County Airport. Her pies and cookies were always welcomed gifts for family and friends and were the highlight of every holiday table. She had been active in Farm Bureau and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs. She was a devout Lutheran, a devoted wife and an amazing mother and grandmother.
Those who will welcome Marge to heaven are her beloved husband, Kenneth A. Shealy, her parents Fred and Nellie, as well as aunts, uncles, and her brother Richard. Left to cherish her memory are her children Pamela (Thomas) Vann, Colleen Moore, Susan Gaeta, and Daniel Shealy; her grandchildren Rachael (Mike) Sorboro, Patrick (Abi) Moore, Connor Moore, Alexandria and Danielle Gaeta, Callie and Sammie Shealy and her great grandchildren, William and Jack Sorboro.
