Biography: Marcus W. Dawson 34, of Norwalk passed away on Friday April 28, 2017 in Norwalk, his death was unexpected. Marcus was born April 3, 1983 in San Diego, CA to Steven L. Dawson and Debbie A. (Deskins) Hammer who survives in Shelby. He is also survived by father Steven A. Hammer of Galion; 8 year old daughter Makayla M. Dawson of Norwalk; siblings Steven C. Dawson, Shelby; Rick W. (Stacy) Dawson of Wichita, Kansas; Sara E. (Curtis Green) Hammer of Shelby; and Matthew A.P. (Chelsea) Hammer of Findlay; paternal grandmothers Annette Cole of San Antonio, TX and Kate Hammer of Waterford, WI; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Marcus was preceded in death by brother Joshua A. Hammer; paternal grandfathers Richard Dawson, Merlin Hammer and maternal grandparents Wayne and Mona Lee Deskins.
Marcus graduated from Plymouth High School in 2001 and attended Hocking Technical College where he studied Fire Science. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2004 and served 3 combat tours in Iraq. He retired from the Army as a recruiter in 2015 as a Staff Sergeant. He received multiple awards and ribbons during his time in service. Marcus enjoyed spending time with his daughter and friends. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut St., Bucyrus on Thursday May 4, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with Military Rites performed at 6:45 pm. Burial will be held on Friday at Western Reserve Cemetery in Rittman. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the DAV and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
