Biography: Luther Kimbler, 91 of Bucyrus passed away on Saturday December 31, 2016 at the Kobacher House in Columbus. Luther was born Jan. 22, 1925 in Lewis Co., KY to the late Jefferson and Vesty (Bryant) Kimbler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Luther E. Kimbler; wives Lizzie (Kelly) Witter and Mary (Garberick) Kimbler; as well as 11 siblings.
Luther is survived by children Bill Kimbler of Bucyrus; Emma (David C.) Martin of Butler; and Wanda (Rick) Schnabel of Bucyrus; grandchildren Kami (Mark) Fuller, Christopher Martin, Tesa (Chris) Oehler, Mathew (Erin) Schnabel; Danny Kimbler, and Renee (Ernie) Beck; and 16 great grandchildren.
Luther retired from General Motors after working over 30 years. He lived in Lake Wales FL for 20 years prior to returning to Bucyrus 6 years ago. For several years Luther lived in Sulphur Springs, OH. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Florida and attended the Baptist Temple in Caledonia. Luther was a Veteran of the Army Air Force in WWII serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre serving as a Staff Sergeant in the 411th Bomb Squadron. He received the Theatre Ribbon w/2 bronze stars, the Good Conduct Meal, as well as the Victory and Air Medals.
The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, OH on Monday from 3:00 until 6:00 pm. Additiional Services will be held in Lake Wales Florida on Thursday at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales, FL on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be held in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
