Biography: John William “Rocky” Cole, 79, of Crestline, passed away on Friday September 25, 2015 at Mill Creek in Galion. John was born March 23, 1936 in Crawford County to the late Cloyd and Edna (Klahn) Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Betty Jean and Mable.
John is survived by Bob Reith, a cousin who was his caregiver and good friend, and Bob’s wife and daughter, Tressa and Emily, and their extended families. John also has many close cousins and friends from his neighborhood, the bus garage, Country Star and Sunrise, and the farming community who remember him fondly. Other survivors include dear friends he made during nursing home stays in the past several months.
John lived most of his life in Crawford County and worked for over 40 years at Country Star in New Washington. He farmed with his father and was always a reliable source of information about crops, field conditions, and every piece of farm machinery ever built. He loved tractors, in particular, and enjoyed telling people that his favorites were Case IH and John Deere. He also loved holidays, family reunions, Cousins’ Lunch, telling stories, and a good meal. All who attended the Klahn Family Reunion on Sunday, September 20, 2015 are grateful that John could be there to visit with everyone one last time.
Each of us can use a good friend and a little help from time to time. John’s family would like to thank all those friends and co-workers who extended many thoughtful kindnesses to him along the way. When life presented challenges, you good friends intervened and blessed John with not only your love and support but also with your time and assistance. Thanks, too, to the many health care professionals who saw John through his medical issues and others who cared for him during hospital and nursing home stays. God blessed John with many good, caring folks in his life.
