Jerry “Pudge” Hargis, age 77, passed away at Bucyrus Community Hospital December 7th 2024. Pudge was born to the late Garland and Tommie (Thompson) Hargis in Jackson County Tennessee April 23, 1947. Pudge married Pat (Heil) Hargis July 10th of 1982 who survives. Pudge is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Edna Walters, Joyce Hargis, and Jimmy Hargis.
Pudge is survived by his wife of 42 years Pat Hargis; children, Brittany Hargis, Eric Hargis, and Molly Hargis; granddaughter, Kallie Moermond; brothers, Roy Hargis, Jennith “Ken” Hargis; sister, Carolyn Decker; and two dogs Bear and Frank.
Pudge lived his passion for the Bucyrus community through coaching. He coached 52 football seasons at Bucyrus (2 at Buckeye Central) from 1970 through 2022. He spent countless hours catching softball for his daughters and anyone else that wanted to stop by and throw. He coached softball at Bucyrus for 24 years, from 2000 to 2024 and was looking forward to the 2025 season. He worked at and owned Ehrhart’s Party Store for over 30 years. Pudge spent as much of his spare time as possible golfing with his buddies and will be greatly missed by all.
Visiting hours are at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home Wednesday from 4PM-7PM. There will be a funeral service at 11AM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bucyrus Athletic Boosters Softball Program, Hope Hollow (assists with cancer patient accommodations) https://hopehollow.com/donate/ , or donors choice.
