Biography: Janis I. Shaffer, 84, passed away on Sunday Sept. 14, 2014 in Willow Brook Nursing Home, Delaware, OH. Janis was born March 11, 1930 in Bucyrus to the late Thomas and Florence (Dininger) Shaffer, she was never married. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin sister Janet I Shaffer.
Janis is survived by cousins; Arlo (Pat) Lutz, Bucyrus; Lyla Koslow, Parma; Karen (Jim) Dewiel, Winter Garden, FL; and Jackie (John) Wingert, Bucyrus.
Janis moved to Columbus with her sister in 1996 from Bucyrus. She was an area resident for most of her life and a 1948 graduate of Holmes Liberty H.S. She worked for Anchor Swan for 40 years and her last position was Executive Secretary. Janis was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and had done volunteer work at the Worthington Senior Center and Worthington Christian Village. In addition, she worked at Kohl’s in Lewis Center.
A Private funeral will be held on Friday in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Richards, Interim Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. At the request of the family, there will be no formal calling hours. Memorials may be given to Heartland Hospice or the Church in care of the funeral home.
