James Robert "Big Bobby" Walters

James Robert “Big Bobby” Walters, 70, of Galion, Ohio, passed away peacefully October 15, 2024 after an extended illness. Born on March 20, 1954 in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Robert Walters and Jane (Spriggs) Walters, Bobby graduated from Garrison High School in Garrison, Kentucky.

On October 16, 1976, he married the love of his life, Sandra Schubert-Walters, who survives him. Together, they raised five wonderful children. Bobby is survived by his children Robert “Little Bobby” (Cassie) Walters, Karen (Brian) Ervin, Stephen (Savannah) Walters, Alexis Walters, and Marcus Walters. Bobby was also the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Ty, Addison, Laurel, and Kailee.

Bobby worked as a prototype machinist and retired from Gorman Rupp, where he was known for his dedication and craftsmanship. Outside of work, Bobby was an active member of the Bucyrus Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a devoted deacon and poured his heart into writing and directing plays for the church community. He was an avid reader, finding joy in both books and the Bible, which he cherished deeply.

In addition to his beloved wife and children, Bobby is survived by his brother, Tim Walters, and his sisters, Diane Pruitt and Tammy Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jane Walters, as well as his father-in-law, John Schubert, and mother-in-law, Eula Schubert.

Bobby’s faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was an example of love, kindness, and integrity to all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and church community.

A funeral service to honor Bobby's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Bucyrus Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Lyle Arnett officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at the church.
