James E. Orewiler

James E. Orewiler, 79 of Galion passed away peacefully on Monday March 25, 2024 at home.  Jim was born June 12, 1944 in Bucyrus to the late Francis Orewiler and Maxine (Fry) Garvin.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step father Paul Garvin; sons Chuck Orewiler and Joe Fogle; and brother in law Joe Smith.

Jim is survived by sons Craig (Laurie) Orewiler and Jason (Dawn) Orewiler both of Bucyrus; step children Todd (Shannon) Ernsberger, John (Cynthia) Ernsberger, and Troy Ernsberger; grandchildren Alec (Chesney) Orewiler, Caden, Kristen, and Shaina Orewiler, Kelsey (Kelly) Ely, and Kayla (Michael) Callahan; great grandchildren Liam, Lydia, Wrenley, Aubrey, Naomi, Micheala, Dean, Raeleigh, and Jordan; sister Joyce Smith; Daughter-in-law, Amy Orewiler; and nieces Laurie (Logan) Cooper, Dawn (Jim) Henson, and Holly (Chad) Starner.

Jim lived most of his life in Bucyrus and moved to Galion 10 years ago.  He retired from Swan Rubber after 25 years and prior to that had worked at Tecumseh and owned Jim’s Schell on N. Sandusky Ave. in Bucyrus.  Jim enjoyed playing cards, which he did every day in Galion and Bucyrus, fishing, and spending time at Lake Erie with his Lyman Boats.   Jim was also known as a “Chevy Guy”.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 6:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Guined officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of the service.  Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 181, The Galion Moose Lodge, or the Galion Golden Age Center in Jim’s memory and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
