Biography: James “Jim” Vernon Eldridge, 76 of Clearfield, KY and formerly of Bucyrus went to be with the Lord on Saturday February 18, 2017. Jim passed away at the Ashland Community Hospice, Ashland, KY. He was born March 5, 1940 in Sharkey, KY to the late Ray and Amanda (Gregory) Eldridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives Carrie Snipe and Patricia Cox; brother Billy Dean; daughter in law Tammy Jean Eldridge; and great granddaughter Emma Haines.
Jim is survived by children Carla Horning, Clearfield, KY; Steve (Melly) Eldridge, Butler, TN; Pam DeJean, Bucyrus; and Jessie Shulaw of Bucyrus; grandchildren Shelly, Steven, Shelton, Amanda, Kayla, Kassi, Clayton, Zach, Zoey, and Caleb; great grandchildren Isaiah, Jayda, Kaden, Tamera, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Isabella, Lilli, Alivia, Lincoln, and Ayva; best friend and loving companion Freda Harvey Eldridge who he married in 2006; brothers Estill (Audrey) Eldridge, Cincinnati and Roger (Sue) Eldridge, Bucyrus; sister Barbara McGlone, Bucyrus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim began working in a sawmill in Kentucky followed by work in Fairborn, OH working construction building houses. He retired from Swan Rubber-Dayco Swan after 38 years. Jim loved to hunt, fish, watch baseball and football, and porch sit with his friends. Most of all Jim enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Hager officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Memorials may be made to Ashland Community Hospice Care Center, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
