Biography: James H. Miller, 87, of Woodlawn Ave., Bucyrus passed away early Wednesday at Heartland of Bucyrus, he had been in failing health for the past 6 months. Jim was born Sept. 16, 1927 in Swords Creek, Virginia to the late Foster A. and Vada Miller. He was formerly married to Janice Miller who passed away Feb. 7, 2014. He was also preceded in death by brothers Leo, Curtis, Carlyle, Elmer, and Daniel.
Jim is survived by children; Jimmy (Bonnie) Miller of Tennessee; Bobby Miller of Florida; Scott, Whitney, and James “Jamie” (Maranda Furr) Miller all of Bucyrus; grandchildren Jimmy Jr., Jonah, Joshua, Brittany, and Madilynne; 5 great grandchildren; brother Vernon (Jean) Miller of Virginia; and his favorite buddy, his dog “Jake”.
Jim moved to Bucyrus in 1953 and initially worked at Swan Rubber. He retired in 1989 from the City of Bucyrus after 18 years. Jim enjoyed fishing, spending time on the boat at Clear fork Reservoir, listening to Blue Grass Music and his chew. He was an Honorable Veteran of both the U.S. Army and Air Force.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Thomas officiating, burial will be held on Monday at 1:30 in Miller Cemetery, Swords Creek, Virginia. The family requests that friends dress casually and meet the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. The family asks that you join them for a time of fellowship and meal immediately following the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society and the family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland Nursing Home in Bucyrus.
