Biography: James D. Powers, 85, of Bucyrus died at 4:10 pm Wednesday March 5, 2014 in Heartland of Bucyrus. James was born May 8, 1928 in Crawford County to the late Devore and Olive (Watts) Powers. He was married on April 7, 1951 to Mary C. (McClain) Powers who survives. He was preceded in death by son Steve Powers; a very much loved granddaughter Melissa; sister Delores Pfleiderer and brother Don Powers.
In addition to Jim’s wife, he is survived by 3 daughters Stephanie (Kelly) Moore and their children Tracie (Jason) White and Tonya (Chris) Beck all of the Nevada area; Vicki (Mark) Dillon of Upper Sandusky and their daughter Amanda (Bob) Moranville of Delaware; Michelle Powers of Doylestown, PA and her children Sydney and Spencer Healey; great grandchildren Alexis and Emma White, Hunter Beck, Mikayla Moore, Graham Ditmars, and Jack and Stella Moranville; and one sister Judy (Grove) Welch.
Jim was a fix-it guy and loved making things, mostly mechanical. He worked at Timken for 30 years and prior to that while still living at home worked with his Dad at their work shop in Oceola. He was a happy traveler, first on a motorcycle, then in a Motorhome, traveling all 48 states of which Alaska was his favorite. Jim spent 15 winters in Fort Myers, FL where he had a good time playing horseshoes and euchre. He graduated from Holmes Liberty high School in 1946, was a lifelong area resident, and was a man of good faith.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Chaplain Dan Clouse officiating, burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials may be given to the Don R.
