Biography: Helen M. Metzger Zeiter, 80, of Bloomville passed away on Thursday June 11, 2015 at Kobacher House in Columbus following a sudden illness two weeks ago. Helen was born May 2, 1935 in Seneca County to the late Charles L. and Clara R. (Knieriemen) Auck. She was first married to Norman D. Metzger on Aug. 22, 1954 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2003. Helen married Wayne D. Zeiter on Feb. 22, 2006 and he survives. In addition to her parents and first husband, Helen was preceded in death by grandson Toby McWaters; son in law Neil Belcher and step daughter Carol Zeiter.
Helen is also survived by children Dennis L. (Bonnie) Metzger; Diane K. Belcher; Dean C. (Marcia) Metzger; Darla J. Sobers; Douglas E. (Donna) Metzger; and David L. (Leah) Metzger all of Bucyrus; step daughters Beverly (Larry) Gurney, Sycamore; Donna (Randy) Focht, Tiffin; and Bonnie Watts, Bucyrus; 26 grandchildren and step grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; brother Wayne D. Auck and Dale E. Auck both of Bucyrus; and sister Velma Rainey, Bucyrus.
Helen graduated from Lykens H.S. in 1953 and lived her entire life in the area. She was a homemaker and for 45 years worked as a Cashier for Gebhardt Auctions. She was currently a member of Baseline U.C.C. and belonged to the Women’s Guild as well as sang in the church choir. Helen loved being with her family for dinners and family gatherings, playing cards, and meeting regularly at the Pelican House on Tuesday’s.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 20, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Baseline U.C.C. with Rev. Robert Haskins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
