Biography: Helen Jane Laipply, 89, passed away Friday Dec. 27, 2013 in Pleasanton, KS where she had resided since 2005. Helen was born March 8, 1924 to the late Leroy and Beatrice (Hirtz) Rettig. She was married March 1, 1943 to H. Dale Laipply who preceded her in death on December 25, 2004. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brother Glenn Rettig and sister Maxine Hines.
Helen is survived by daughter Darlene Starr-Rudy and her husband Doug of Pleasanton; grandchildren Kris (Kim) Starr, Kim (Ron) Pelsor, Kirk (Anne) Starr, Shane (Amanda) Rudy, and Aubry (Megan) Rudy; great grandchildren Kyle and Kirsti Starr, Libby and Evan Starr, Marcus and Kenny Smith Skyler, Dayden, and Jace Rudy; as well as siblings Clarence Rettig, Bucyrus; Wanda Lawhead of Marion; Joyce Leeth of Marion; and Janiece Yosick of Mansfield.
Helen was a lifelong Bucyrus resident until moving to Pleasanton in 2005 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She was a homemaker and member of Good Hope Lutheran Church.
The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from noon until the time of service. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Harold Hasenauer officiating, burial will be in Martin Luther Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Good Hope Lutheran Church and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
