Harold E. Stinehelfer, 93 of Bucyrus passed away unexpectedly on Friday December 1, 2023 at Bucyrus Community Hospital. Harold was born November 4, 1930 in Bucyrus to the late Curtis Stinehelfer and Dorothy (Shank) Garver. He was married November 11, 1951 to Annabelle V. (Bordner) Stinehelfer who survives. Harold was preceded in death by son Brian and brother Lester Althauser.
Harold is also survived by daughters Linda Adams and Karen Stinehelfer both of Bucyrus; grandchildren Mandy (Jorge) Gomez, Ashley (Timothy) Crawford, Christopher (Jessica) Stake, and Kimberly Adams; great grandchildren Nicole, Brittany, Brent, Erik, Emma, Nicolas, Noelia, and Kade; and great great grandchildren Bradyn, Colton, Kenneth, and Jhordy.
Harold graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1948 and retired over 30 years ago from Timken where he had worked for 36 ½ years. He lived in Bucyrus his entire life and for 32 years wintered in Northport Florida. Harold never met a stranger and for several years enjoyed camping and traveling with the local group called Tents and Trailers of Ohio.
From the beginning of the Bratwurst Festival Parades, Harold drove the Parade Marshall in his gold Cadillac Convertible. When he and Annabelle were the Parade Marshalls his daughters drove the car. Harold enjoyed older cars and was an avid collector of Hot Wheels. Following retirement Harold traveled to every county in Ohio and took pictures of all Ohio County Court Houses. He also photographed all the covered bridges in Ohio and Lighthouses.
Harold was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, served in the Ohio National Guard, and sold real estate for Don Wilson Realty. At age 17, with his mother's consent, Harold began a life of commitment to donating O negative blood. Through the years he has donated a total of 43 gallons and helped many.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s U.C.C., the American Red Cross, or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. Expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
