Biography: Edith Prohaska, age 90, passed away March 1, 2017 surrounded by family. Edith was born May 26, 1926 to the late Ernest L. Hickerson and Naomi (Derryberry) Hickerson in Nashville, TN. Edith is preceded in death by parents, first husband Wilbur Wade 1972, second husband Robert Prohaska 2001, sons Ray and Edward Prohaska, brother Earnest Hickerson, sisters Wilella Kelly and Gwendolyn Gipson, son-in-law Richard Moore.
Edith is survived by children, Charles (Loretta) Wade of Bellville, Lucy (J.C. Hall) Perry of Shelby, Louise (Delbert) Brown of Waverly, Wilbur Jr. (Sarah) Wade of Bellvue, and Susan Moore of Mansfield; stepchildren, Annie (John) Grover of Tiffin, James Prohaska of Columbus Kathleen (Tim) Taylor, and Roberta Griggs both of Bucyrus; brothers Len (Judy) Watkins of Georgia, Burton Watkins of Florida, and William Hickerson of Nashville; sister, Mary Edna Yonk of Florida; as well as 10 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Edith first moved to the community in 1977. She became a member with the Lincoln Ave. Church of Christ. Edith loved spending time volunteering at the Carlisle House with hospice care. She also enjoyed spending time with her family when she got the chance to.
Edith’s request was to be donated to a medical college to further the field of medical science research. Arrangements are in the care of Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. There are no services scheduled at this time. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Ave. Church of Christ or Home Care Matters Hospice.
