Biography: Edgar Vaughn Zellner, 89, of Bucyrus passed away early Thursday Jan. 23, 2014 in Altercare of Bucyrus, he had been in failing health since June. Edgar was born Sept. 16, 1924 in Crawford Co. to the late Samuel Adam and Adah (Shaffer) Zellner. He was married March 15, 1947 to the former Thelma Miller who preceded him in death on May 15, 1994. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Edgar is survived by three children, nine grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren; Pamela S. Spears and her children Tonya (Roy) Rister and Chad Spears all of Bucyrus; Gary A. (Debra) Zellner of Midland MI and their children Chris (Aijana) Zellner of Lakewood, OH and Emily (Mike) Bambini of Canton, MI; Deborah (Edward) Redmon of Bucyrus and children Ian Pensinger, Columbus; Nicki (George Floyd) Pensinger, Bucyrus; Katie Redmon, Toledo; Kelley (Zachariah) Campbell, Colorado; and Jessica (Danny) McCabe of Galion.
Edgar graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1942 and served during WWII in the Navy Air Corp. He retired from Weithman Bro. in Galion after 42 years. Edgar was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 181. He enjoyed his flower gardening, raising orchids, playing jazz piano, and building and flying model airplanes. Edgar always enjoyed fish and eventually opened his own business in his home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
