Earl Dean Agee, 78 of Bucyrus passed away peacefully on Saturday August 17, 2024 at home following an extended illness. Earl was born December 12, 1945 in Chatfield Ohio to the late Benjamin Hooper Agee and Birchey Edna (Rogers) Agee. He was married October 19, 1968 to Barbara Jane (Ford) Agee who survives. Earl and Barbara met on a blind date and have been married for 55 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Freda and Ruby, brothers George and Paul, as well as twin infant siblings.
Earl is also survived by children Julie (Gil) Young of Tennessee, Gary (Dawn) Frazier of East Palestine, OH, Deanna (James) Stines of Asheville, NC, and Jane (Shane) Johnson of Bucyrus; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 1 due in September; brother Clarence Agee of Millersburg, OH; sister Donna (Frank) Butler of Beaverton, Oregon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl was a High School Graduate and received an Associate of Science Degree in accounting from Mansfield Business College. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Surgical Assistant. Earl retired as a Sargent from Marion Correctional after 31 years and worked a short time for the Bucyrus Police Dept. from 1971-1972. At Marion Correctional he did volunteer ministry for many years.
For 54 years Earl was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy where he served as a Deacon. He taught Adult and Children’s Sunday School, Bible Study, was a worship leader, Clerk, and Treasurer.
Earl always said that raising his kids was his greatest joy in life. Every summer you could find him taking not only his kids, but also many church kids, out hiking, canoeing, and to amusement parks. He would load up the car and head to Church Camp, where he would stay and work in the kitchen for the week. Earl also took joy in teaching his children to drive cars and motorcycles at a very early age. He passed on his love for adventure, love of nature, and love for God to his children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Lavelle officiating and burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. The family suggests memorials be made to the Church of God of Prophecy, Bucyrus and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
