Biography: Douglas M. Tima, 65 of Bucyrus passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes on Thursday morning at his home. Doug was born Oct. 21, 1950 in Toledo to the late Joseph and Irene (O’Reilly) Tima. He was married Dec. 26, 1982 to Tami (Wolf) Tima who survives. In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by son Douglas (Jessica) Tima II of Westerville and sister Diane (Ronald) Grudzinski of Michigan. Doug is also survived by many loving and caring relatives.
Doug graduated from Roy C. Start High School in Toledo in 1968 and continued his education at the University of Toledo. He moved to Bucyrus in 1974 and taught Special Education in the Bucyrus City School District from 1974 until 2002 when he retired. Doug was a coach for most of his teaching career for: the Bucyrus Varsity Football Team, the Bucyrus Middle School Track Team, and Head Coach of the Bucyrus Cross Country Team. He was a member of the American Legion Post 181 and the Bucyrus Moose Lodge. Doug was an avid diehard sports fan for the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Doug also loved fishing and boating around many lakes across the country.
The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Bucyrus Athletic Boosters: The Doug Tima Memorial Fund, through the funeral home.
