Douglas R. "Dog" Bell

July 21, 1947 — March 25, 2024

Galion

Douglas R. “Dog” Bell, 76 of Galion, passed early Monday morning March 25th, 2024, at his home in the care of his family.

Doug was born on July 21st, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Lester and Iva (Erisman) Bell.

He was a graduate of Miamisburg High School class of 1965. Doug and his family moved from Miamisburg, Ohio to Bucyrus, Ohio in 1987 where he took a job at the local UDF and became a part of the local community until his retirement of over 20 years. Doug loved playing golf with his son Daniel, even though he threw the club to the ground more than not. He loved to go fishing, bowling, and causing Mom a big headache, hence the nickname Dog, as he was always in the doghouse.

Doug was preceded in death by his two brothers Robert E. Bell and Ronney L. Bell. He is survived by his ex-wife, high school sweetheart, and love of his life Ruby Bell of Galion, children, Kathryn M. (Michael) Bishop of Galion, and Daniel (Delia) Bell of Marion. He is also survived by his grandchildren Iva Jo K. Bishop, Nathaniel D. (Brianna) Bishop, Ashley “Fiona” Lameyer, Amanda Scott, Alexander Scott, and Brandon Scott, his 6 greatgrandchildren Charlotte, Lee Anuna, Melanie, Carter, Aidan, Mercury, numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2024, at 1 pm at New Day Ministries in Bucyrus, Ohio. Bishop Ted Thomas will officiate. Calling hours for friends and family will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The family has requested that anyone attending to please wear something yellow as this was Doug’s favorite color. We are also asking anyone who is sending flowers to try to add yellow to these as well. Arrangements are in the care of Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home.
