Biography: Dorothy O. Luidhardt, 93, of rural Bucyrus passed away Monday evening at Bucyrus Community Hospital following a sudden illness. Dorothy was born June 6, 1919 on Spore-Brandywine Rd. to the late Jesse Daniel Feichtner and Matilda Rosetta Lutz. She was married Feb. 5, 1941 by the Rev. Mohrhoff in the St. Paul Lutheran Church parsonage to Walter C. Luidhardt who preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1992. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her four year old daughter Eileen Elizabeth in 1950 and son in law Stanley Sipe in 2006.
Dorothy is survived by children Gene (Bettie) Luidhardt, Jim (Helen) Luidhardt, and Carol Sue Sipe all of Bucyrus; 6 grandchildren, Matt (Lori) Sipe, Bucyrus; Kara (Marvin) James, Tiro; Nadene (Dwight) Heckelman, Westerville; Aileen (Rex) Plamann, Elmhurst, ILL; Beth (Jamie) Leyda, Pickerington; Allyson (Corey) Crider, Big Prairie, OH; 11 great grandchildren, Britney (fiancee: Landyn Hill) James; Braxton and Carson James; Adam (Erma) Schifer; Craig (Audra) Schifer; Christy (Jared) Diekman; Mandalyn Heckelman; Shepard and Emery Kate Plamann; Paige and Curtis Leyda; as well as great great grandchildren Madalynn, Faith, Brian, and Robert Schifer.
Dorothy attended Chatfield School and graduated in 1937. She worked for more than 20 years at Bucyrus Community Hospital and retired 28 years ago. A faithful lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sulphur Springs, Dorothy was a member of the Women’s Circle of the Church, assisted her husband in custodial duties, was a regular greeter, helped with the newsletter, and pieced quilt tops for the sewing committee. While working at the hospital and after retirement, Dorothy helped take blood pressures at the Council on Aging for several years. During all of her married life, she attended to farm duties with her husband Walter.
Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, reading, and in the summer gardening and mowing her own lawn.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Luidhardt will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Hans Scherner officiating and Rev. Jack Kocsis assisting, burial with follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home.
