Biography: Dorothy N. Cole, formerly of Bucyrus and a resident of Bowling Green, KY for the past 5 years, passed away on Saturday May 14, 2016 in Bowling Green. Dorothy was born Jan 23, 1931 in Venice Twp., Seneca County to the late Perry Andrew Smith and Maude Amanda (Meiser) Binninger Smith. She was married Jan. 6, 1952 to Haldon V. “Smiley” Cole, Jr. who passed away Feb. 21, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Robert and Russell Smith.
Dorothy is survived by sons, Andrew (Sue) Cole of New Castle, DE; Phillip (Juanita) Cole, Bowling Green, KY; and Mark (Sharon) Cole of Warsaw, IN; 16 grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Josh Cole and Jennell Perez; Phillip II and Brandi Cole; Christopher, Samuel, Jacob, Thomas and Noah Cole, Naomi Karth and Elizabeth, Sarah, Alicia and Emmalee Cole; 16 great grandchildren, brother Eugene (Betty) Smith, Bucyrus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy had worked at the former Second National Bank and First National Bank in Bucyrus. She retired from Timken after 30 yrs and 9 months. Dorothy was a Bucyrus High School graduate in 1948. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and had served on the Church Council, was a member of the Crawford County Humane Society, was a volunteer at Fairhaven Home in Upper Sandusky and Women of the Moose member.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:00 pm with Rev. Steven Voelker officiating, burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ
