Biography: Dorothy L. Long, 89, a lifelong Bucyrus resident and most recently residing at Orchard Park passed away Wednesday April 17, 2013. Dorothy was born December 25, 1923 in Bucyrus to the late Robert and Myrtle (Light) Keller. She was married April 18, 1943 to Robert Long in the Good Hope Lutheran Church, he survives in Bucyrus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother in law John Farrell and sister in law Lois Long.
Dorothy is survived by children, Jean (Rob) Zaebst, Bucyrus; James (Helga) Long, Danville, OH; Joan (Mark) Tieben, Caledonia; Patti (Kevin) Garrett, Bucyrus; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; as well as numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Margaret Farrell of New Washington; and brother Donald (Kathy) Keller of Albuquerque, NM.; and brother in law Richard Long and his wife Carol.
Dorothy graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1941 and prior to being married worked at Ekelberry Poultry. Following her marriage to Robert she devoted her life as a loving wife and mother. Dorothy was a member of the Evangelical Pietist Church, Chatfield and enjoyed her family and family get togethers. She was a Grey Lady Volunteer for more than 25 years and took over training, which her mother had previously done for many years.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Bertsch officiating, burial will follow in Lust Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be made to Pietist Church or Good Hope Lutheran Church Radio Fund through the funeral home.
