Biography: Donna Mae Leonhardt, 87 of Sulphur Springs passed away on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at Bucyrus Community Hospital. She suffered from Post Polio health complications. Donna was born Feb. 17, 1929 in Bucyrus to the late William and Carrie (Norris) Zink. She was married Nov. 9, 1947 to Paul R. Leonhardt who survives.
Donna is also survived by children Roxanne (Ron) Shipman of Sulphur Springs; Ron (Debbie) Leonhardt, Joliet, IL; Roger Leonhardt, Cleveland; Rodney (Raie) Leonhardt of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Anthony Shipman, Michael (Angela) Shipman, Aaron (Aurelia) Leonhardt, Dustin (Deanna) Leonhardt, Rochelle Leonhardt, and Rhiley (Danielle) Leonhardt; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by brothers Lyle and Roy Zink as well as 2 sisters Darlene Shafer and Mary Hanes and her pet dog “Rocky”.
Donna lived her entire life in the area and was a graduate of New Washington High School. She was very active at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Women of the Church and she sang in the choir. Donna retired after 12 years as a bus driver for Colonel Crawford Schools, and enjoyed waving to the grade school bus every morning as the kids waved and yelled good morning. She was also a member of Lady of the Shrine & Loyal order of the Moose. For 29 years Donna and her husband spent the winters in Florida where she enjoyed golfing, shuffleboard, and playing in the Kitchen Band. Donna also enjoyed camping and traveling.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 1:30 pm in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ridgeton Rd. with Rev. Hans Scherner officiating, burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service.
