Donald Beck

Biography:  Donald Beck, 86, of Tiro passed away on Thursday April 10, 2014 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.  Donald was born Sept. 14, 1927 to the late Russell and Geraldine (Ruffener) Beck.  He was married Feb. 14, 1948 to Wilma J. (Hirtz) Beck and she preceded him in death on April 30, 2012.
 
Donald is survived by son Larry (Sheila) Beck; daughters Susan (Eugene) Biglin and Barbara (James)  Strausbaugh all of New Washington; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and brother Arnulf Beck of Bucyrus. 
 

Don graduated from Mt. Zion H.S. in 1945 and lived his entire life in this area.  He was an avid reader, he loved to travel and enjoyed gardening and as a young man played the harmonica.  Donald’s farm was his pride and joy, he farmed the same farm for 66 years.  He also worked many years at Galion Iron Works in the maintenance dept.  He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy as Fireman 1st on the USS. Suisun A.V.P.53. 


Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with burial to follow in Biddle Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 pm.  The family suggests memorials be made to the Am.
