Deborah E. "Betty" Palmer

Biography:  Deborah E. “Betty” Palmer, 94, of Bucyrus passed away Sunday April 5, 2015 at Altercare of Bucyrus following a brief illness.  Betty was born May 22, 1920 in Bucyrus to the late James and Deborah (Savage) Ghist.  She was married April 17, 1948 to Ray E. Palmer who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2011.  In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by brothers Charles, James Jr., Donald, Walter, and George; as well as sisters Mae Diener, Clair Myers, and Alberta “Bert” Mattocks.
Betty is survived by children Jeff R. (Joey) Palmer and G. Elizabeth “Liz” Palmer both of Bucyrus; grandchildren Christopher (Brittney Collier) Palmer and Michael Palmer; and great grandchildren Christopher and Lainey Palmer.
Betty graduated from Bucyrus High School and the Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a registered nurse and beginning in 1967 worked in the office of Dr. Newhart and for Bucyrus Community Hospital.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ridgeton Rd.  Betty loved crafts, quilting, gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles.  Most of all, Betty enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Hans Scherner officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service.  Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
