David Ray Ash

David Ray Ash, 89, of Bucyrus went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2025. Ray was born July 29, 1935 in Thor, Kentucky to the late Lawrence and Ruby (Bloomfield) Ash. He was married August 3, 1956 to Eva (Hilger) Ash who preceded him in death on February 13, 2021. He was also preceded in death by brother Lawrence Ash Jr.

Ray is survived by children, Pam (Kevin) Corney, Jeff (Anita) Ash, and Tim (Linn) Ash all of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Ashley (Kyle) Spence, Kristie (Jacob) Alexander, Britney (Landyn) Hill, Kelsey (Kyle) Fluharty; David Ash, and Rachael Ash; great-grandchildren, Kameron, Leah, Reid, Charlotte, J.T. and Knox; brothers Dick (Shirley) Ash and Steve (Wendy) Ash; sisters Wilma Hallmark, Faye Stafford, Hester Dyer, Linda Zornes, Sue (Art) Schiefer, and JoAnn (Tim) Ridge; as well as many nieces , nephews, and his feline companion “Toby”.

Ray’s faith and family were the most important things in his life. Ray was a member of Faith Point, formerly Kaler Ave Church of Christ in Christian Union for over 60 years. Ray originally worked at Crawford Steel at a young age and retired from Swan Rubber in 1998 after 44 ½ years.

Ray enjoyed athletics, and when at Laurel High School in Lewis County, Kentucky he averaged 20 points per game in both his junior and senior years. He also was active in both slow pitch and fast pitch softball and was a fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds. Ray also enjoyed fishing, traveling, visiting 44 different states, and watching The Andy Griffith Show. Ray was a frequent customer at the Whistlestop Café in Galion where he ate every Saturday and Monday.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday February 13, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Jividen officiating and Pastor George Lore with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday February 12 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the the American Heart Association and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com.
